1. Prior to completing an application - the Veteran must show or verify they have completed an application for Legal Aid services and the Legal Aid either denied legal service or was unable to provide a pro bono attorney for the legal matter. If only court costs are needed due to the constraints and limitations placed on a pro bono attorney, the Veteran need only provide a point of contact for the Legal Aid service representative for verification.
2. Fill out an application and email or fax the application, with supporting documentation for verification of Veterans status (DD 214), income and monthly expenses , including attorney fee agreement for the legal matter. (A Credit Report from any agency will not be requested)
3. VLAF Staff Review and Approval.
4. Notification to the Veteran of Approval or Denial.
